Walnut and Herbed Cheese Log
Makes 8 to 10 servings

  1. 2 (8-ounce) packages sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
  2. 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  3. 1 teaspoon dried basil
  4. 1 teaspoon dried tarragon
  5. 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  6. 1 clove garlic, minced
  7. 2 cups toasted chopped walnuts
  8. Crackers
  9. Apple slices
  1. In a large bowl, beat Cheddar and next 5 ingredients with a mixer at medium speed until creamy. Shape mixture into an 8-inch log, and roll in walnuts to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving or for up to 3 days. Serve with crackers and apples.
