A Taste of Travelers Rest

Sunrift Adventures

Choose Your Adventure

When you want to get some fresh air, Sunrift Adventures is the perfect place to start. Having put roots down in TR in 1980, this independently owned premier outfitter is a one-stop shop for your outdoor needs: biking equipment for the Swamp Rabbit Trail, kayak or canoe rentals to take on a nearby river, quality apparel, and more. The staff is incredibly friendly and ready to give expert advice as you choose your next adventure.

Travelers Rest Farmers Market

In the summer months, make it a point to go to the Travelers Rest Farmers Market, a bustling haven that includes about 70 local vendors, from farmers and bakers to makers and neighbors. It’s a great way to get a taste of TR in one spot, and it also offers interactive yoga classes and other events, too.

Urban Hare

One thing that TR does best is place an emphasis on supporting small local businesses to foster a community-centric atmosphere, and shopping at Urban Hare is a great place to start. This new-to-town boutique owned by Mandy and Michael Williams has shelves brimming with cozy, stylish home décor and accessories. Then, venture over to Retro Marketplace to browse through rooms filled with upcycled décor and carefully curated vintage clothing. You’ll likely find a one-of-a-kind keepsake. Lean into your artistic side by viewing the installations at Wild Hare Gallery & Studios, which showcases local artists of all ages and mediums. For a more food-forward shopping experience, sample and select premium olive oils and vinegars that delight your palate at The Crescent Olive—you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the tasty and interesting combinations owner Charlotte Easler comes up with. There’s also The Carolina Honey Bee Company, a hub for local raw honey and gourmet infused honey, beekeeping supplies, and cheerful, bee-inspired gifts. It even offers beekeeping workshops for those looking to take on a new hobby.
