Southwestern Turkey Burgers with Avocado Spread

Spread
  1. 3 small ripe avocados, peeled and seeded
  2. ½ cup sour cream
  3. 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  4. ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  5. ½ teaspoon salt
Patties
  1. 3 pounds ground turkey
  2. 3 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  3. 1 teaspoon lime zest
  4. ½ teaspoon ground chipotle chile pepper
  5. ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  6. ½ teaspoon seasoned salt
  7. ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  8. 6 slices Monterey Jack cheese with peppers
  9. 6 hamburger buns, halved
  10. Sliced tomato
  11. Lettuce
  12. Pickled jalapeño slices
Instructions
  1. For spread: In a medium bowl, mash all ingredients with a fork or potato masher until smooth. Cover and refrigerate while preparing burgers.
  2. For patties: In a large bowl, stir turkey and next 6 ingredients until well combined. Divide mixture into 8 portions, and shape each into a 4-inch patty.
  3. Spray grill rack with nonstick nonflammable cooking spray. Preheat grill to medium-high heat (350° to 400°). Cook patties for 6 to 8 minutes per side until thermometer registers 165° or until no longer pink in center. Place 1 cheese slice over each patty, and cover with grill lid until cheese is melted.
  4. Spread avocado mixture onto buns, and top with patties and desired toppings.
