A place for everything and everything in its place is a great way to describe this well-appointed kitchen makeover. Giving the existing space a gorgeous face-lift, along with maximizing every last inch, helped provide new storage, better traffic flow, and additional work surfaces.
The homeowners love everything about their home, but the kitchen needed just a few extra touches to improve the functionality and bring the overall look up to date. Needed storage space was created with the addition of cabinets above the sink, wall ovens, and the cooktop. New cupboards are the perfect place to house seasonal china, small appliances, and canisters of baking ingredients. All the existing cabinet fronts were refinished to look new. A new narrow island is easy to navigate and adds extra workspace. Drawers installed on one side make it easy to store utensils and everyday cookware, and it’s a nice serving surface for entertaining friends and family. This is a kitchen makeover done right.
A TV was hung using an under-cabinet mount, allowing it to fold up out of sight. It easily folds down for watching a favorite show or to feature the big game while entertaining.
The decorative mosaic-tile backsplash behind the cooktop is one of the homeowners’ favorite design elements of the kitchen. It coordinates well with the granite and highlights the workspace.
A quiet, new energy-efficient dishwasher with controls hidden out of sight in the top of the door was clad with a custom cabinet door panel to blend in with the rest of the kitchen. Purchased bamboo utensil organizers are fitted in drawers to keep flatware and kitchen gadgets orderly. Unsightly items such as the trash can, recycling bins, and dish sponges are hidden away in under-counter pullout drawers.
The antique buffet nestled in a corner offers extra storage, additional lighting, and a spot for family treasures. The glass-top table in the breakfast area visually opens the space, and the forgotten space above the refrigerator is transformed with crown molding and arched cabinetry. This niche is now a showcase for kitchenware and cherished cookbooks. The refrigerator resembles an armoire with its dressed-up facade.
