The two dining rooms of The Lady & Sons are readied for customers. Tables are set, condiments are replenished, and tea and other beverages are prepared.

Just before the doors open, the buffets are filled with pans of piping-hot food, and cornmeal hoecakes are cooked on a griddle. As soon as guests are seated, everyone at the table is served warm biscuits and hoecakes.
