Savory Cornbread Dressing

Savory Cornbread Dressing
Ingredients
  1. 1/2 cup butter
  2. 2 cups chopped onion
  3. 2 cups chopped celery
  4. 7 cups crumbled cornbread
  5. 3 cups chicken broth
  6. 2 cups crumbled biscuits
  7. 1 (10.75-ounce) can cream of chicken
  8. soup
  9. 3 large eggs, lightly beaten
  10. 1 tablespoon poultry seasoning
  11. 2 teaspoons ground sage
  12. 1 teaspoon salt
  13. 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  14. Garnish: fresh parsley
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Spray a 13x9-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a medium skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion and celery, and cook for 6 to 8 minutes, or until vegetables are tender.
  3. In a large bowl, combine onion mixture, cornbread, broth, biscuits, soup, eggs, poultry seasoning, sage, salt, and pepper. Spoon mixture into prepared baking dish. Bake, uncovered, for 1 hour, or until set. Garnish with parsley, if desired.
Makes 10 - 12 servings
